Fire Extinguishers and Gas Cylinders

Fire Extinguishers and Gas Cylinders

Hazgreen take fire extinguishers and gas cylinders to a recycling plant that uses specialised equipment to recover the contents and recycle them. Gases are compressed and used as fuel. The gas cylinders, valves and fire extinguisher casings are then fully recycled. Hazgreen supply cages for on-site storage.

Fluorescent Tubes

New Regulations require the segregation of fluorescent tubes from general waste as they are now classed as hazardous waste. The tubes are crushed and all key components including copper, aluminium, glass and mercury are recovered and recycled. Hazgreen supply special coffins for on-site storage.

Printing Waste

Hazgreen offer a regular collection service to printers across the UK for the disposal of all types of printing wastes including Inks, blanket wash, solvents, plates, developers, solvent contaminated rags and fount solution. Hazgreen supply cages and drums for on-site storage.

Aerosols

Hazgreen offer a 100% recovery of all aerosol components. The gases are compressed and used as fuel. The cans are crushed and used as recycled metal. EU approved on site storage containers for aerosols are available from Hazgreen.

W.E.E.E.

WEEE directive 2002/96/EC requires all end of life commercially used electrical products to be decommissioned and recycled.

WEEE items are professionally stripped, de-gassed if necessary and all components are segregated for recycling.

Batteries

Batteries

Most batteries can be recycled and are classed as hazardous waste. Batteries contain heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium and nickel which can contaminate the environment when batteries are improperly disposed of. It can be damaging for the environment to dispose of batteries through landfill and incinerating them causes atmospheric pollution.

Resins & Adhesives

Solvents & Resins

Most types of flammable solvent based wastes, including mastics, resins, adhesives and cleaning solvents, can be recycled.

Using specialised equipment, the solvents are recovered and mixed with other recovered wastes to create fuel.

The containers, i.e. resin tins are used for recycled metal.

Oil & Oil Filters

Oil & Oil Filters

Waste oil and oil filters can be fully recycled. Using specialised equipment, oil is processed and recovered to be used as fuel. Oil filters are crushed, the oil extracted, leaving the metal which enables both constituents to be recycled.

Paints & Thinners

Waste paint, even water based, is classed as hazardous waste when wet. Whether you use paints containing flammable solvents, heavy metals, or you produce waste such as brushes, rollers or tins with residue paint, paint sludge or thinners, these need to be kept segregated from all other waste and containerised as hazardous waste.

Hazgreen handle medical waste defined as waste that contains hazardous properties that may render it harmful to human health or the environment.

It is defined as any waste which is made up completely or partially of human or animal tissue, blood or other bodily fluids, excretions, drugs or other pharmaceutical products, swabs or dressings, syringes, needles or other sharp instruments. Asbestos is commonly found in older buildings, mainly in insulating lagging and roofing. Hazgreen provide a collection and disposal service for all types of asbestos waste.
